Kralik draped

The “drapery” or “wave” décor frequently appears on vases such as these, made of a single layer of colored glass, pressed into a mold and cut from the top. The absence of a pontil mark and the simplicity of their execution mark them as Kralik, not Loetz.

The “draped” optic mold pattern also appears on a number of inkwells:

Take notice of the round flattened body which leads to the identification of other inkwells with the same shape but different decors.  There is a more complex cased variant, shown below in pink over white, green over white  and lemon yellow over white:

Once more, shape leads to further identification:

Recently I acquired another Kralik inkwell for which there is a vase with a matching décor.  In this case, Kralik produced its own version of Loetz Spiraloptisch décor (see loetz.com in the décor index for some examples).  The difference is the quality of the manufacture is self-evident.  Both the Kralik vase and inkwell lack the depth of iridescence found in Loetz Spiraloptisch pieces.
